The 2017 Edition of TrendSuite Institutional has officially been released and is now available for download and purchase. The latest iteration expands the underlying trend-following framework, introducing an improved algorithm for the popular Trend Breakout trading mode.

Trend Breakout II

Originally introduced in the 2015 Edition of TrendSuite (under the name Breakout Chaser), expanded in the 2016 Edition (renamed to Trend Breakout), and significantly enhanced in the 2017 Edition (Trend Breakout II), this special signal-generating mode is specifically engineered to detect formations and resumptions of trend associated with breaks out of consolidating or ranging price action. In technical analysis language, we're referring to price formations like channels, triangles, and wedges.

The original Trend Breakout feature quickly became a favorite tool of many traders as it required no configuration except setting the Trend_Breakout parameter to true. Although it performed well, we found it had the tendency to issue signals with increased frequency under extreme price consolidation (very narrow ranges), potentially eroding some of the profits generated in breakout signals. Trend Breakout II (2017 Edition) contains a significantly improved algorithm that adds an extra layer of ultra low-lag filtering, designed for detecting and avoiding periods of extreme consolidation. The algorithm focuses and qualifies mostly signals of greater statistical relevance. You'll still get occasional "fake breakouts" (major news announcements) and signal clusters during quiet market times but they're now less frequent and have much less impact on the overall profitability of the big, trend-following breakout signals. The strategy with Trend Breakout has always been to leverage large, trend-following moves spanning hundreds of pips against many small loss or break even signals, aiming for overall, long-term profitability.

Important: make sure you have at least 5000 historical bars loaded on your charts before using Trend Breakout - the algorithm needs enough statistical data to make a more accurate projection.

Trend Breakout II typically works best with volatile pairs, such as EUR/JPY, GBP/CHF, EUR/AUD, and higher time frames (M15 or higher) or fixed price charts (like Renko). You can still use this mode with lower-ranging pairs like EUR/USD and lower time frames (under M15) but you may have to apply TrendSuite's Volume filter to remove introduction of additional price "noise".

EUR/JPY performance could be further improved by applying a take-profit or trailing stop of 200-500 pips, locking in profit before any sudden reversals.

TrendSuite Expert Adviser (EA)

Trend Breakout II is fully compatible with TrendSuite's Expert Adviser (EA) add-on - intended for trade automation, optimization, and parameter testing. More information on purchasing the EA is outlined below. Stop-Loss, Take-Profit, and Trailing Stop should be used to lock-in profit (usually prior to retracement) and minimize losses. Alternatively, you can use signals from a scalping or momentum exhaustion-based indicator, like MarketScalper, to exit positions opened by Trend Breakout as trend strength begins to weaken. All customers who own licenses to, both, MarketScalper and TrendSuite, automatically receive a special edition EA that integrates both indicators, allowing you to enter with first and exit with second. If you qualify for this EA but have not received it, let us know - we'll fix it.

TrendSuite 2017 was designed for and compiled in Metatrader 4's new build 1090 environment. As result the code is more optimized and calculations faster than in any of the prior versions. If you're on an older version of MT4 you have nothing to worry about as TrendSuite is back-compatible, all the way back to build 600.
